Sega Runs Rings Around EA

Sega Runs Rings Around EA

January 31st, 2012

I'm very impressed with Sega's showing so far on Android.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 was launch on January 25th and had some issues with Ice Cream Sandwich (just give me a moment I'm getting to the impressive part).

Within an hour or two of release they modified the description to mention that they were aware of an issue with ICS and that they were working on a fix. They also blocked ICS devices from being able to purchase the game till it was fixed.

5 days later (3 business days) an updated version was released on the Android Market that fixed the issues with ICS. This is extremely impressive and shows not only Sega's dedication to Android but also to their customers.
It's great to see a big developer treat their products with such care. I only wish that EA would do the same. Last year when EA released NFS Shift on to the market there was issues with quite a few devices. EA did not respond to support requests, they did not respond to tweets and they did not make any notes in the games description. Eventually EA fixed the issue, unfortunately it took 3 months, yes THREE MONTHS.

I'm also having issues with another EA game, this time Real Racing 2. The market says its's incompatible with my Galaxy Nexus. I had a hunch so I downloaded it on my Nexus S and copied the APK over to my Galaxy Nexus to manually install the game and it actually worked, perfectly I might add.

I have left comments, sent support emails and tweeted about it but EA has done nothing. It's been over a month and all they have to do is add the Galaxy Nexus to the list of supported devices, they don't even need to update the game. But they haven't done it.

EA has clearly shown they do not care about Android or their customers and that's just pathetic. So show SEGA some support and pick up one of their games.
