File Under Comics

Just four issues this week. Coming from eight issues last week it seems so little. But you can't get spoiled every week. None of these issues are from my go to favorite series but with a couple number two's there's always hope for a future must read.

Batman Incorporated #8

One thing I've always liked about this series is the focus on Batman and Robin. Batman Incorporated is just a continuation from Grant Morrison's 2011 Batman and Robin series. I love the dynamic between father and son, especially when he's writing it. But I haven't been keeping up with this series and so I'm a few issues behind. The buzz behind this issue has me interested in catching up. From the cover I can surmise that Damien is supposed to die in this issue. I doubt he does, but if he does, it's likely not for good. Death in comics is rarely forever. But even still I'm interested in where Grant takes this.

Punisher War Zone #5

This is the last issue in the Punisher War Zone mini series and it's been quite a ride so far. I've never read Punisher before, but seeing the Punisher taking on the entire Avengers team so far has definitely kept me entertained. After seeing him completely fool the Avengers and steal one of Tony Starks suits I have to see how this ends. Part of what makes the Punisher so interesting is that he has no issues killing bad guys. He's not entirely bad but he's not entirely good either. It's riding that fine line that makes for a great story.

Young Avengers #2

I didn't think I would like the Young Avengers, but it was actually quite good. I don't know any of the characters besides Loki, so this experience is all new to me. The artwork was great and the story was well paced. It was a fun issue and each character got their chance to show you who they were. I have high hopes for this series and look forward to see where they take it.

Uncanny X-Men #2

I enjoy X-Men comics and have loved the All-New X-Men, but so far I'm not completely sold on this series. I don't love the artwork and I'm not a fan of the look of the characters. But again as a fan of the X-Men I'm willing to give it a chance. But if it doesn't wow me in the next issue or two, I may have to drop it. I think I'll re read the first issue before reading this one and see if a second read goes better. Here's hoping it does.
