Pull List February 13th

File Under Comics

I got a good haul this week with 2 more issues than last week and a couple issues that have me at the edge of my seat and I can't wait to read what's next.

The Walking Dead #107

I know the first issue I'm going to read today is The Walking Dead #107. As soon as I finished reading #106 I thought I must have the next issue now. It was such a solid issue and I was left waiting weeks for #107's reveal. In #106, Carl snuck into Negan's camp with an M16 and let loose on several of his men. Throughout the book as Negan showed Carl around his camp he kept saying 'what am I going to do with you'. Then at the end of the issue he meets up with Rick, Carl's dad and says 'I can't fucking wait until you see what I've DONE to your little boy!' After an ending like that, how could issue #107 not be on everyone's pull list.

Star Wars #2

The first issue of this new Star Wars comic feels just right to me. The writing and art is spot on and exactly as I would imagine a comic book version of the original Star Wars series would be. But this isn't a retelling of the original movies. Instead it takes following the destruction of the Death Star. The empire is hot on the rebel heels as they search for a new base. The end of the series will likely end with the start of the Empire Strikes Back. I have high hopes for this series and so far it's been great.

Uncanny X-Men #1

Uncanny X-Men is my only number one this week. I've really enjoyed Marvel's All New X-Men and I really enjoy the X-Men universe so this book was an easy pick. If this book is even half as good as All-New it will definitely have a place on my pull lists to come. It's always nice to have more than one good X-Men issue a month.

The Manhattan Project #9

While this may be issue 9, it is in fact the first issue I will be reading. I've been impressed of what I've seen of the series and it's popularity has definitely got my attention. If this issue lives up to the hype, I will pick up the back issues to get myself caught up. From flipping through the issue this looks like it's going to be another great comic from Image.

Batman #17

This is the conclusion to the excellent Death of the Family and I can't wait to read this. But I will save it for last, I always save Batman for last. I can't say enough about Scott Snyder's Batman series, it's easily one of the best written super hero comics from the last year. The art is also amazing and Greg Capullo easily draws the best Batman I've seen in a comic. If your not reading this series, you should be.

Batman and Robin #17

Batman and Robin has been hit and miss so far. But when it's hitting, it's definitely one of the best comics to read. As I mentioned in my Best Comic of the Week January 30th, the best part of this series is the relationship Bruce and Damien. So when the series is nothing but a side story and follows only Robin, it loses it's main appeal. Issue #17 looks to be a proper Batman and Robin story, so I'm looking forward to another great issue.
